"Halhal" means bangle in some Turkish dialects, an ornament placed on the arms or ankles. This piece, made of old pure silver, is more of a massive, tribal appearance. This pair of bangles were probably given to a bride on her wedding day. 

There are records of small children who wore these bracelets on their legs and this gave an indication of their location - when they moved away, they heard the sound and thus knew to follow the child
