This 1930’s lavalier is made of a turquoise gemstone and pure silver, made in Israel. During the British mandate in Israel (or how the British called it- Palestina), soldiers stationed both in Palestina and in India were infatuated by the middle eastern style, and since gemstones were a rare find along the Mediterranean coasts, they brought different gemstones with them for jewelry making.
